Bee Happy Homes – Becoming a Proverbs 31 Woman

Center Stripe

Yesterday, I was ready for the day to be over at 4pm, my blood sugar continuing to swing.  Since Jeff would not be home til after 6pm, I put a movie on and sat in my rocker, planning to retire early after dinner.

Exhausted and overwhelmed with all I had to care for, I met Jeff at the door, unlocking the safety lock that keeps my twin toddlers in.  And wouldn’t you know it, those beautiful hands of his were holding a small, frightened kitten!

“What!”

Who knows what I said after that.  Jeff would have to tell you, because I had lost awareness of self in a moment of disbelief.  With one shoe off and mud on his prevailing sock and other shoe, Jeff steps in the house.  Then, of course, the Mom in me takes over.  I took the kitten in my hands and began to speak soothingly to it.  Then soon I was off to Wal-mart for kitten food, the story of rescue going through my head.

Jeff was driving home from work on a major highway that has a 60mph speed limit.  He saw this spot on the center stripe.  As he passed, he saw it move.  Astonished, he turns around to survey the situation.  He ends up chasing the kitten through a bar ditch, where his shoe was taken in the mud, and finally stops at a high wall.  With no one around or near, he decides to bring the kitten home.

No telling how long this kitten had been hugging that center stripe, where it remained safe.

A good reminder to me to just keep huggin the Center of all things, Jesus Christ, while dangers pass over.

And what a blessing to see God answer a desire of my daughter’s heart, that would otherwise have went unanswered.
