Fellowship Across an Ocean
At the time I had my miscarriage, we had stopped doing any correspondence on the computer for several days, as we just huddled close. When we did reconnect, we read a troubling e-mail from one of our head pastors of the orphan ministry in India. He and his wife, Lalitha Bai, were expecting their third child. Lalitha was seven months pregnant when she started having severe pains. Doctors took the baby by C-section, and the baby died. Lalitha remained very sick in the hospital for a long while.
Losing our baby at seven weeks was tough, but I can’t suppose that it compares to losing a baby at seven months. Our hearts were hurting with them.
Then when they received news of our loss, their response overwhelmed me. In the midst of their grief and continuing painful crisis, the pastors, teachers, orphans, and widows held an all night prayer vigil for me, our family, and K.O.R.E. ministry.
Oh my goodness. What do I say to that?
Well, Hariya, Lalitha’s husband, is a full time evangelist, traveling to surrounding villages to share the gospel. Our family is their only source of support that we are aware of. That left a hospital bill that we were unable to pay. Jeff wrote to our church in Lubbock, Experience Life (www.experiencelifenow.com), and the pastor immediately said they would pay the bill. Thank You God.
The story goes on because another answer to prayer came through Lalitha’s stay in the hospital. You see Hariya had long been praying for a hospital ministry to the orphans and villagers. Their interaction with the hospital staff during Lalitha’s stay and God’s provision through Experience Life opened the door for just that. Praise the Lord! And thank you Chris Galanos and Experience Life.
And before God answered prayers for my healing, which this time came through surgery, I was not open to having a hospital ministry. After seeing the suffering and death my Mom went through at the hands of doctors, it took this desperate situation to change my heart in this matter.
We have watched God grow K.O.R.E. ministry, King of kings Orphan Reach Evangelism, through prayer and trial for over four years now. And we look forward with hopeful anticipation at what He will do in the future.
Open your mouth for the dumb [those unable to speak for themselves], for the rights of all who are left desolate and defenseless; open your mouth, judge righteously, and administer justice for the poor and needy. Proverbs 31:8+9
