Fallen in love with Jesus
When considering what to write about this morning, considering the small amount of time I have during this season of life, I asked myself, “what is the most important message I want my life to speak?”
Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so.
I did not pour over the glorious Word of God to come to this knowledge, in order to convey to you His beauty. Though I would love to be doing just that, I am encouraged this morning to remember what first drew me to the magnificence of my King.
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
For this reason I say to you, her sins, which are many, have been forgiven, for she loved much; but he who is forgiven little, loves little.” Luke 7:47
The most important thing I know that I can share is that God loves me despite everything. He values me. He considers me. He reaches me.
And He loves you too.
The knowledge of this kind of extravagant, unconditional love for me, from One who was willing to give all for me and for the world, caused me to fall.
To walk past all the stone throwers, all the religious, all the abusers, and in their presence to fall at the feet of a Savior. Hardly able to look into the eyes of love, but unable to go out in faith unchanged.
His love is power.
His love cannot be taken from me. I cannot mess up enough to get out of its hold.
I may lose the favor of others, under their microscopic vision, but the favor of God is for a lifetime. And He knows everything about me.
I can rest in that place.
Resting one evening in bed across the hall from my daughter’s room, after having a challenging day with my wonderful strong-willed first-born daughter (Joy), my two-year old daughter’s words sunk deep into my heart.
She said, “Jesus loves me. And Joy, Jesus loves Mommy too!”
Oh thank God, that even when those closest to our heart do not seem to love us, God’s love remains.
And it empowers us to have a loving spirit no matter what is given to us.
What a great blessing beyond words!
To be loved and to love.
