Mutual Desire
Spending time with Joy this morning studying Genesis 2, and reminded of God’s desire for us, particularly as found in His name Yahweh.
Simply put, God is near to us. He loves us. He wants to talk to us. He wants to be near to us.
The very name Yahweh, rendered LORD in our English Bibles, which is the proper name of God, reminds us of His desire. He chooses to love us. And He expresses that love in many ways, being willing to talk to us and to listen to us.
Love is a choice. God has given to us to choose our own desire. We choose to love Him or not. Love cannot be forced. God will not force us to relate to Him. He invites us.
Earlier this morning, I was reading again of David’s desire, as he expressed in Psalm 27 verse 4.
One thing I have asked from the LORD, that I shall seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty (lit. delightfulness) of the LORD, and to meditate (lit. inquire) in His temple.
What a truly wonderful opportunity we are given every day to talk with God!
We can go to God and talk to Him about anything, ask Him anything, and then listen to His answer as revealed in His Word. And as we continue in this relationship, we will certainly find God beautiful.
